Robert Allen's Debt Reversal: A Review
If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably had credit cards since college – but that doesn’t mean you actually understand anything about the credit card industry! Ever since I was 18 years old, I’ve been using my credit cards for everything, from paying for textbooks and meals when I was a student to filling up my car with gas every week and even financing occasional splurges on things like clothes and sushi dinners. Needless to say, all of that carelessness has caught up with me in recent years, and I’m now more than $15,000 in debt – and I’m not even 30 yet. When I heard about the book Debt Reversal – Debt Free for Good by Robert Allen, I figured it was worth a shot, so I bought a copy. I have to say that it’s really helped me have a basic understanding of how credit works and the ways in which you can negotiate with credit card companies.
One of my biggest financial problems has always been my sense of helplessness – I didn’t know what I was doing, so I had no idea how to make things right. Thanks to the info in this book, I have a pretty good idea of where and how to begin. For example, Trudeau explains how the credit card industry is designed to keep consumers in debt, and the offers tips for getting collectors off your back, strategies for cutting your interest rate, etc. I’ve heard some people say that the information in the book is hardly “exclusive” – that, with a little work, it can all be found elsewhere – but my question is, who wants to do that kind of work?! Debt Reversal may not be particularly informative if you’re already a financial whiz or you’re the type of person dedicated enough to do your own research into the credit card industry, but if you’re like me you might be able to benefit from his clear, concise writing style and straightforward tips.
All in all, if you consider yourself a total financial novice, a book like Robert Allen’s Debt Reversal could be the wake-up call you need to regain control of your money and your life.
